Loving Pets You Can Adopt
Loving Pets You Can Adopt Standard Cat Beds

There honestly is no greater feeling in the entire world than coming home to your loving, adorable and incredible pet that simply can’t wait to see you after a hard day at work. Pets offer unconditional and irreplaceable love, while remaining loyal through thick and thin. Unfortunately, many people tend to search for pure breeds, paying even thousands of dollars for a pet. Why would you promote excessive breeding and selling animals when you can adopt a pet that will love you for the rest of their lives? Shelters all around the US are filled with priceless animals that offer their full compassion and dedication to their future owners. Not only will you be saving a life, but you will also enjoy the ideal companion that will never leave your side.  Even though people usually associate the concept of adoption with dogs and cats, you should know that there are many other animals that you can adopt today that will noticeably brighten up your life. Discover the precious pets we recommend below and think twice before buying love!

1. Dogs

Nothing compares to canines. Although our first choice is rather obvious, most people still end up purchasing a pooch instead of adopting one from their local shelter. The number of dogs housed by animal shelters is sincerely shocking – between 6,000,000 and 8,000,000 dogs each year. I personally grew up with a dog rescued by an animal shelter, and he ended up being the brother I never had as a child. Dogs serve as the most loyal companions you could ever dream of, and you can count on them for protecting both you and your family and being there when you need a soft shoulder to lean on.

2. Cats

You’re probably starting to feel all sorts of fluffy just by thinking about kitties. Yes, the internet is packed with them, but for a very good reason. Cats are extremely loveable and fun to own, as they tend to be very playful from birth until their senior years. An adopted kitty will surely offer countless memorable moments that you will treasure for a lifetime. Cats are simpler to attend to than dogs, as they don’t need to be taken out for walks and can easily live with you in your apartment. If you are a parent, your children will definitely fall in love with your newly adopted kitty-cat and will grow into responsible young adults by helping take care of them.

3. Rabbits

Thanks to characters like Bugs Bunny and the world-famous Easter bunny, rabbits have become ever more popular in contemporary society. They are, without a doubt, one of the furriest and fluffiest pets you could ever enjoy living with. Unfortunately, many bunnies are hunted for their precious fur and regarded by many to be gourmet delicacies. But how could you even imagine harming this heartwarming little creature? Choose to save a bunny and adopt him, he will forever be in your gratitude and offer you nothing less than complete devotion.

4. Guinea Pigs

How can you not adore guinea pigs? They are one of the best-behaved, chubby and super cute pets you could ever hope for. Although people don’t necessarily associate guinea pigs with adoption, you should know that there are shelters all across America with tons of guinea pigs that can’t wait for a loving owner to come and take them home. In fact, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) even declared March the national Adopt-A-Rescued-Guinea Pig Month in 2002, an event that is respected to this day! If you’re looking to adopt a guinea pig, consider rescuing two, as they are social creatures and are much happy in pairs.

5. Hamsters

Extend your family by adding a fluffy little hamster to it! A huge favorite among children, hamsters are the perfect pets that do not require high maintenance and are super friendly at the same time. They say that big things come in small packages; you would be surprised to find out how big of a heart these cute guys can hide in their tiny bodies. Be careful with these furry fellows, though, as their chewing habits can be potentially dangerous to both household appliances and even themselves. They also love playing around in their cages, so make sure they always have some toys (that you can make yourself!) to have fun with.

6. Birds

Polly doesn’t want a cracker; he wants to find a caring owner and a loving home! There is an entire website dedicated to the adoption of birds (Birdadoption.org), which promotes rescuing “a parrot or another captive bird instead of contributing to the homeless bird problem by buying from a breeder”. We couldn’t agree more! Birds, and particularly parrots, are fun to take care of and communicate with. If you decide on adopting a parrot, you should know that he will remain in your family for your entire life, as they can live more than 50 years! It’s quite a responsibility, but the personal satisfaction definitely pays off.

7. Horses

Horses are one of the most majestic animals that the Earth has ever been blessed with. Adopting a horse is a fantastic choice for people who live in rural areas or who have access to pieces of land, as they need their space to grow healthily. The reasons for adopting a horse or a pony are countless, from almost human-like affection to sheer beauty and incomparable love. Horses are so compassionate that an entire form of therapy has been developed based on them: equine therapy. Adopt a horse today if you possess the necessary space and we guarantee you won’t regret it!

Of course, there are many other kinds of pets that you can adopt anytime, such as turtles, fish, and even porcupines (I actually took care of one in my yard with my family and he was extremely loveable). The list of animals you can save can really go on forever… It all depends on which type of creature you want to bring into your home and make part of the family. What pet have you adopted or what animal are you planning to rescue? Let us know in a comment and don’t forget to take care of your precious partner!
