Siamese Kittens: Fluffy Origins

Some of the most funny ‘Lady and the Tramp‘ characters, originated from what is now known as Taiwan (former Siam), these furry creatures were first seen in Europe in the late nineteenth century at the Crystal Palace Cat Show in London. From there this cat species purred its way into our hearts with its slick ball-room fur and beautiful blue eyes. Ancient texts have been attributed to describe the cat, nevertheless mainstream recognition came during the previous 20th century.

Moreover, this species helped give birth to other breeds such as the Himalayan division of the Persian cat, the Havana Brown and the Balinese just to name a few.

This cat species is regarded as one of the brightest. It is highly intelligent and child-friendly, thus fights for attention are usually avoided in households with a Siamese kitten. Affectionate with the family and right-down playful, this cat has been the main option for many cat lovers out there.

Also being easy to groom, the Siamese cats make for one of the best pets a person can have in their apartment. Children will not get enough of it and maybe your loved one too. Highly sociable, it is not a good idea to leave them alone for a long period. If you do have to work during the day you could have two of them so they could keep each other company.

The International Cat Association recognized Siamese cats, or ‘Wichienmaat‘ as they are called in Thailand to be one of the oldest domesticated cat species on this planet.

Health Concerns for Siamese Kittens

This cat species as any other pedigreed or mixed-breed has various health problems that could be the result of genetics. These health problems are known to be the following:

1. Amyloidosis, which primarily affects the liver as a result of amyloid proteins being deposited in the body.
2. Aortic stenosis or other congenital heart defects.
3. Asthma or bronchial diseases.

Another important aspect in taking care of these fluffy companions is dental care. Daily dental floss is recommended for our little friends, however if you don’t have the time for this daily, make sure you do it at least once per week.

As any other cat it has a tendency to shed, although not as much as other species, and its brown-chocolate fur has a fine texture.

They have a life-span of 11 to 15 years, remaining one of the most long-lasting pet companions a person can have.

 Other Personality Traits of Siamese Kittens

The Siamese kitten is highly intelligent, playful and agile. Make sure to keep its little heads occupied with all sorts of puzzles and challenges. Very intuitive, the little fur ball will follow you all over the house as if he’d like to help you with your chores.

Gazing closely on your activity when near them, they will immediately jump on you for some loving attention. They are also highly communicative. They will give out pointers with their loud, raspy voice making them one of the most communicative species of felines out there.

Very fond of their people, they interact easily with new persons and are suitable for households with children.

Nevertheless, before deciding to go for a fluffy friend make sure you or those living with you are not sensible to its fur, as it can give away some real nasty allergies. But this is something common, considering such sensibilities are to be found in regards to other species as well.
